Chris Brown Makes History At The Today Show

Excited and anxious fans camped out since Wednesday and Thursday nights just to watch the talented R&B singer Chris Brown perform in New York City at the free Today Show Concert Series on July 15th, 2011. I met fans from Arizona, Maryland, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey who traveled just to catch a glimpse of Chris Brown. If I am not mistaken it has been a while since he has performed in front of a New York City crowd, the last concerts being the last time he was at the Today Show to promote his third album Exclusive, a free concert at the Nokia Theater for his then Double-Mint Gum endorsement deal, and his Up Close and Personal Tour where he performed in Madison Square Garden for several nights, each night being sold out to thousands of people. Behind the scenes, everything felt out of control early Friday morning. N.Y.P.D and NBC security tried to control the crowd of more than 18,000 people (the largest crowd at any Today Show concert history) but with no organization it was very hard to get people to cooperate. Chris Brown was supposed to do sound check at around 6a.m but it was too dangerous for him to get on stage and fans were not even in the venue yet. But when it came time for Chris to hit stage at around 8:35a.m there was no doubt in anyone’s mind that they were about to witness an epic performance. He performed “Forever”, “She Ain’t You” off of his F.A.M.E album which is only a few thousand copies away from Platinum, “Yeah 3x’s”, and “I Can Transform Ya.” The crowd went wild as they fist pumped and sang along to all of the lyrics. The only other person I could think of that would need to have streets shut down when they visit New York would be President Obama and he wouldn’t even cause that much chaos and excitement from so many people of different races and generations, it is obvious Chris Brown is on that golden road to becoming a LEGEND.

Chris Brown Tweeted Friday Night: “Nobody can take my joy. I have some of the most     incredible  fans in world. Goodnight ya’ll!”
