Who is Rebecca Black?

Rebecca Black is a 13-year-old eighth grader from Anaheim, California. Her name has been heard and read everywhere from Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, and even on the Jay Leno Show. The frenzy began when she posted up the music video to her song “Friday” on YouTube over a month ago. It already has over 47 million views on YouTube and is going down in history as the worst viral video ever. Most of the feedback Rebecca Black has received has been hurtful and some are even potential threats, but she doesn’t let it get her down. According to her you can hate the song as much as you’d like but no matter what, it’s going to be stuck in your head for a while.

People have already labeled her as a “Wannabe Pop star” although she is part of a production company called Ark Music. The song is even #72 on the Billboard Top 100 which is very hard to imagine and believe with lyrics like “Kickin’ in the front seat, kickin’ in the back seat. Which seat should I take?” The video itself is a parody of the movie “Friday” starring Ice Cube, but it is still very unrealistic as teenagers “drive” around in a convertible. Her parents reportedly paid $2,000 for the music video, which in my opinion would have been put to better use in her college fund. Although a lot of negativity has been the result of this production I do admire her ambition and as for her dream to do a duet with Justin Bieber… “Never Say Never.”
